Zeus, master of thunder, was worshiped as the god of Heavens. His dwelling, the Ether, was a radiant place above the earth, never disturbed by wind or storm, from where he governed the Cosmos.

            According to Greek mythology, Zeus released the Cyclops from their Tartarus prison, in order to prevail over Cronos and his Titans during the Titanomachy, and take away their power over the heavenly sky. As a sign of gratitude and to reward him for liberating them, the Cyclops offered the father of the gods the Storm the Lightning, the Thunderbolt. The lightning bolts, created by Hephaistos, were the channel of communication between gods and men. As a supreme overseer of moral order, Zeus used it not to punish but to deliver just and right solutions.
